One of my two favorite teams in sports (the other being the Spartans of course). I made each of these projects out of my personal love for the best team in baseball. I am also willing to defend that last statement.
Bless Our Boys Poster
Created during the road to the 2012 World Series.
Opening Day Lunch Poster
This is actually part of the client work for Eat at State, featured in the next gallery, but I thought I would keep a continuous theme. Eat at State wanted an eye catching poster to advertise for their luncheon.
Series of Starting Pitcher Banner Ads
The Fab 5 of the 2013 season. Each pitcher is showcased with his own strip.
Spartan Football Rose Bowl
Working for the Spartan Football organization has been a huge opportunity for me. I definitely scored with a job there my senior year, the year the Spartans won the Big Ten Championship and the Rose Bowl! As one of the first Graphic Designers hired by the recruiting department, my main responsibilities were to create mailers featuring upcoming recruits. Coach Mark Dantonio himself would sometimes personally sign some of the mailers. Once Rose Bowl season hit, I was blessed to be able to create amazing mailers for before and after the win.
One of my most recognized works of all was the Rose Petal Helmet, which was tweeted out by various coaches, featured in many online articles such as collegespun.com and 247sports, and has graced many twitter profiles, tumblr profiles, and desktops across the Spartan community. It is definitely something I am proud to have contributed to Spartan history!
For my final capstone advertising/design project, as a team we had to come up with a way to make Michigan State University's official internet safety campaign called SecureIT more compelling to the student body, specifically incoming freshman. After extensive primary and secondary research, we decided on a mobile app game where Sparty fights evil viruses throughout campus landmarks. Though the mobile game was in concept stages, the character of SecureIT Sparty lived on long after our graduation, continuing to teach students the importance of strong passwords, the dangers of file sharing and how to avoid phishing emails, all through social media and print. A digital Sparty for the digital age! We also concepted promotional goods and outdoor ads.
Secure IT Sparty in action
Every year before the big University of Michigan and MSU rivalry game, the MSU Spartan Marching band camps out in front of the Spartan statute to protect it from potential Wolverine vandals. It's usually a chilly time of the year, so having our Sparty "secure" the statue while handing out blankets and hot chocolate would leave a lasting impression on our brave Spartans.
During the Big Games
Red Robin Request for Proposal
A team of data analysts and designers were given a task to present Red Robin Gourmet Burgers a new plan for their website capabilities. For the designers, this meant taking a lot of wordy analytical data and presenting it in a way that was compelling to the review team, and spoke in the voice of Red Robin's branding. We also had to present our company in a way that proved we knew what we were doing when it came to digital asset management. Over the course of a week myself, another art director, and a team of copywriters created this 12x12 book, which received such high praises from Red Robin headquarters that we not only won the business, but more prints of the book were demanded as well!
Event Posters and Collateral
Created on the job while working for the Michigan State dining halls as an advertising aide, and also for internal events at MRM//McCann Detroit. A lot of creative freedom as well as collaboration with other designers was used to create these one of a kind signs. Designing these posters gave me a lot of playtime in InDesign and Illustrator. Believe me, not a single meal or drink was turned down.

Sartori + 2 Lads
For this project we did a mock scenario where two brands join to advertise together. The companies were Sartori Cheeses of Wisconsin, and 2 Lads Winery of Michigan. My copy partner and I played off of the idea that pairing wine and cheese is a timeless work of art, much like the artwork of many well-known artists . We decided to combine the two ideas and create "our idea of a masterpiece."
The ads featured are all for print. Also included is a mocked-up mobile app design called ArtFare, in which the user selects either Sartori cheese or 2 Lads wine products, and receives the perfect compliment in the other partner. Once the pair is suggested for the user, the app will also pair the perfect work of art to go with the "mood" the pairing invokes. We believed that the art-saavy would find this quite enjoyable.
All art direction, layout, and design my own.
Did you know that Ugg makes more than just boots? Whether you happened to know or not, the truth is most people would picture that oh-so-cute glittery pink slip-on. My copywriter partner and I decided to create an awareness campaign to show out the (good) wild side in Uggs, in a playful way.
Concepts for products and beautiful things you can touch and hold.
Earth Justice Matchbook Concept
Wouldn't it be nice if those eyesore smokestacks weren't in the way of what really matters? This matchbook is interactive and sends a broad message on our ever present blemishes on the environment. I choose Earth Justice for their contributions and support for keeping the earth green.
Snowboards for Sochi Winter Olympics 2014
In 2014, the Winter Olympics set into motion once again with the city of Sochi, Russia being center stage. Our assignment was to incorporate elements of Russian culture, the Olympic style, etc. to create a striking snowboard design. We then had them printed and mounted on a cardboard mock. After that daunting task was completed we were able to pose with our "snowboards" in the photo studio. I decided to mockup my own snowboard design, and create a fashion-esque magazine layout incorporating many of my fellow classmate's designs.
On my women's snowboard, I used the Russian word for Power, because there is nothing powerful like a woman who can tear up the snow.
Layout and design my own, photographs provided from other classmates.
A chance to show off my illustration skills with non-specific projects. This ranges anywhere from actual magazine covers to just fun print pieces inspired from just about everything.
My experimentations with Adobe After Effects. Most of what I have so far are Illustrator files imported into AE.
My logo animated
I wanted to add some character to my already playful logo. The flash in the eyes was an important element to show how I love to be curious and explore anything that's different while I work.
Secure It Sparty
Animation for the start screen of a mobile app game. The game is based around an internet security campaign I did for MSU Secure IT. Blast viruses and enjoy with friends!
Making information interesting (and the numbers bearable).
The hours of operation for the Dining Halls can get very complicated during holiday breaks, I wanted to simplify it graphically.
The Legend of Disney: Wind Waker
This was a personal project I undertook during the summer before my senior year. I've always had an interest in crossover art, and I am a huge Zelda fan (and who isn't a Disney fan?). Zelda Wind Waker is certainly one of my favorite games, and I decided to bring my vision to life using their (and my) quirky style. This project took just over a month to complete, from sketches to coloring, and I had an amazing time at each stage of it. I would have to say this is one of my favorite projects I've ever done, just from the sheer amount of time and passion I put into it!
