The Pasty Review UI

The Pasty Review UI

A friend who has a passion for the history and intricacies of pasty making wanted to keep a record of all the pasties he has tried throughout the upper midwest. Knowing that not one person could uphold such a daunting task alone, I decided to design a concept for an app where info on the best pasties where could be crowdsourced!

Purpose: To connect Yoopers and people from all walks of life to the unique culture of pasties in the midwestern US, and comparing them to one another.

Not only does it educate on a somewhat unknown food item nationally, but it guides and builds a community of lovers for this part of the culture. It also leads into an educational experience of the mining history of the area, which is under threat of being forgotten. Plus, information on good food is always likable.

Using a map as the main UI, users can navigate and explore the many pasties made in the upper midwest area.

  • It also keeps the map easily accessible at all times from any tab.

  • Allow user engagement by leaving comments or submitting their own.

  • Users can easily find a good pastie shop near them through the visual use of the map.

  • Pastie shops have the potential to gain more customers through high ratings and discounts provided through the app.

  • It is also a passion project by an individual dedicated to this part of UP culture, realized.
